The humble petic[i]on of John Briggs of Clifton
Shewinge to your good Wor[shi]pps that your poore petic[i]oner hath bene a souldier vnder his late Ma[jes]tie of blessed memory for the space of Twenty yeares & vpwards & neuer revolted dureinge w[hi]ch time your peticoner suffered much hardshipp & receiued sundry wounds w[hi]ch hath weaken your petic[i]oner very much & brought him into a very poore condic[i]on haueinge Five smale Children & nothinge to releive them w[i]thall
It would therefore please your good Wor[shi]pps to take the p[re]misses into your good considerac[i]ons & grant to your poore petic[i]oner such an yearely penc[i]on as in your good Wor[shi]pps yow shall thinke fitt and your poor petic[i]oner as in all duty pr bound shall dayly pray &c
