The petition of John Ashleaye, Cheshire, Michaelmas 1657

To the Right Wor[shipfu]ll the Justices of the peace for the Countye Pallantyne of Chester.
The humble petic[ion] of John Ashleaye
Humbly
Sheweth that yo[u]r petic[ioner] is a poore man & hath nothinge to liue vpon to menteane him selfe his wife & foure Children & is not able to woorke by reason hee had his arme brocke att Woster butt sealling a Cupp of beere yo[u]r petic[ioner] hath not bin trubsom [sic.] to any
Yo[u]r petic[ioner] humbly preath this Hon[ourab]ll[e] Bench that the[y] Wil bee pleasead that yo[u]r poore petic[ioner] may bee bound to seale Ale or that hee may gaue some thinge allowed him wickley tordes [sic.] the mentainge of his poore wife & Childerne or the[y] are licke to perrish:
And yo[u]r Petic[ioner] as hee bound shall eu[er] preay
