The petition of John ap John Lewis of Llanddeiniolen, Carnarvonshire, 1660
To the right wor[shipfu]ll the Justices of the peace of the Countie of Carnarvon
The humble peticion of John ap John Lewis of Llanddeiniolen in the said Countie a poore old souldier neer Fourscore yeares of agge [sic.] &c
Humbly sheweth that he hath served as a souldier in Ireland in the Time of the late Kinge James vnder the Com[m]and of S[i]r Fredericke Hambleton: and Likewise in England vnder the late Soveraigne Charles king of England &c. and after that hath served vnder S[i]r John Owens S[i]r Charles Floyd and S[i]r John Lock in thie Com[m]onwelth as a souldier, But nowe is grane Old and weake haueinge not wherw[i]thall to subsist w[i]thout the benevolence of well disposed people,
Therefore humbly prayeth that it may please yo[u]r wor[shi]pps to take yo[u]r petic[i]oners poore Estate into yo[u]r Charitable Considerac[i]ons & allowe him what penc[i]on yo[u]r wor[shi]ps thinkes Fit of the maimed souldiers mize as heretofore had And yo[u]r petticoner shall Evre [sic.] pray &c
