To the Right wor[shipfu]ll the kings Ma[jes]t[y]s Justices of the peace at this present generall Sessions
The humble petic[i]on of John ap Hugh of Llanvoorocke in the County of Denbigh
Sheweth
yo[u]r wor[shi]ps that your petic[i]oner hath served in our late Sou[er]aigne his service in the late warrs vnder the Comaund of S[i]r Thomas Salesburie S[i]r Charles Lloyd & others allwayes in the field from Eadgehyll battell to the battell at Newberye beinge neare vpon five yeares and that yo[u]r pet[itione]r did beare an office the colleinge of a Serjent in the said Armye And did Continue true & faithfull alwayes true & firme in his said Caleinge & service & suffered manye wounds in his bodie & hath lost the vse of right hande in the said service & that he is not able to earne his liveinge beinge a weaver by trade & hath noe other meanes to maintaine him but to redresse him to yo[u]r wor[shi]ps discresion being a fit obiect of Charitie to be loockt vpon
Most humblie prayeinge yo[u]r wor[shi]ps be pleased to consider the disabilitie and povertie of yo[u]r pet[itione]r & to admitt him to be one of his Ma[jes[t[y]s pensioners to be releeved out of his ma[jes]t[y]s Alloweance & Maymed souldiers mize att the general sessions for the Countie of Denbigh.
And yo[u]r pet[itione]r as in bound dueties will ever praye for yo[ur] wor[shi]ps &c.
I vpon the request of the pettittioner [sic] Certifie that I knew the him serue as a private soldier Corpirall & Sarjent in S[i]r Tho[mas] Salisbury his regim[en]t & vnder S[i]r Charles Lloyd from the beginning to the ende of the warr & never knew any thing of him being many yeirs after in his neighbourhood but that was very faythfull to his ma[jes]tie: dated the 16th of Sept[ember] 1666.
