To the hono[u]rabl[e] and righte worshipfull the Justices of the peace all the quarter Ssessions [sic.] att Chester all happines

The humble petition of John Foxe and Joane his wyfe of Kellsall in the Countye of Chester

Humblye shewinge that your petitioner John Foxe havinge bin a soldier vnder the Com[m]ande of Captayne Walters in the Regimente of our late maiestie, att the Battayle att Edgehill, and after wardes served a soldier in Newarke vpon Trente for the space of foure yeares, vnder the Com[m]ande of Leefietenante Col[one]l Cartewrighte, in the Regimente of Collonell John Digbie, after warde Cominge into these p[ar]tes, your petitioner married his wyfe who was borne in the said towne of Kellsall, where your petitioner and his wyfe haue lived for the space of allmoste Eighte yeares or haue not bine anywaye burdensome neyther to the said Towne or p[a]rish, but labor in our Callinges, to maynteyne ourselfes and our charge, now the inhabitants of the said Towne will not suffer your petitioners to take anye place to inhabite in, nor giue vs libertie to erecte anye smale buildinge within the said towne, your petitioners humble requeste is that eyther they maye haue libertie to take a place to liue in, in the said towne (withoute beinge f fyned all the Courte for beinge as an Inmate) or that they maye haue libertie to erecte some smale place to inhabitie in, not beinge [illegible] hurtefull or preiudiciall to anye one, and your petitioners shall bee bounde daylie to pray for you
