To the right ho[noura]ble the Justices of peace assembled at Northwich for the holding of the Quarter sessions for this Countye.

The petic[i]on of Joane Mort of Weuerham within this Countye widow.

Sheweth to yo[u]r hono[u]rs that yo[u]r petic[i]oners husband having ever since the first beginning of the warres in this Nation beene a firme man for the parliament & readye & willing vpon any occasion to yeeld his best assistance to the vtmost of his endeavo[u]r in the parliament service. Vpon the going of the parliament forces into Scotland the last yeare, yo[u]r petic[i]oners husband did about the first of July goe an inlisted souldyer vnder the com[m]and of Captayne Edward Barker in the Regim[en]t of Collonel Daniel & there was very serviceable in making mud walls & verye active in any thing that hee went about but soe it is may it please yo[u]r hono[u]rs that yo[u]r petic[ioner’s] husband dyed in the sayd Nation & was there buryed the third day of June last leaving yo[u]r petic[ioner] & one small infant yo[u]r petic[ioner] hauing noe meanes to live vpon or to preserue her & her child, but a poore Cottage (which is out of lease) which her mercifull landlord [illegible] Thomas Marbury [illegible] Esquier is pleased to p[er]mit her to enioy soe that yo[u]r petic[ioner] is now brought into great poverty & both shee & her poore child likely to vndergoe great miserye vnles yo[u]r hono[u]rs favo[u]rs bee shewed to yo[u]r petic[ioner] herein.

May it please yo[u]r hono[u]rs to afford yo[u]r petic[ioner] such allowance as is allowed to poore widowes in the like Case And to grant the same to yo[u]r petic[ioner] yo[u]r hono[u]rs Order for her receiving of the same And yo[u]r petic[ioner] as in duty bound shall pray for yo[u]r hono[u]rs in health & all hapines long to continue.

I humbly Certify this Bench that what is sett forth in this petic[i]on is wholy true, not any wise derogating from the same.
