That by reason of those wounds he hath been euer since of a uery infirme body, and sickly, much disabled as to daily-labour, ye only Meanes he hath to ye maintaining himselfe his wife, who is also a lame woman, and two children; that in his sicknesse and disability to worke, had it not beene for ye charitable releife afforded him by ye P[ar]ishoners of Seauenoke by publique Collections at severall times made for him, he must, without Gods great mercy, haue perished through want.
His humble petition to y[ou]r Worr[shi]ps therefore is: yt ye pr[e]mises considered in com[m]iseration of his weakeness of body, and extreme indigency of estate, yee would be piously pleased to confer upon y[ou]r poore Petitioner some yearly Pension towards his subsistence, and ye maintenance of his Wife and Children.
And y[ou]r Peticoner shall, as in duty bound, pray for y[ou]r Wor[shi]ps health and prosperity.
