The petition of Jeremy Gilbert of Lutton, Northamptonshire, October 1684

To the hono[ura]ble the Justices of the Peace for the County of North[amp]ton[shire]
The humble Petic[i]on of Jeremy Gilbert of Lutton.
Most humbly sheweth.
That whereas yo[u]r petic[i]oner faithfully served his late Ma[jes]ty as Leiv[tenan]t in the late warrs and in the said service not onely received divers wounds, whereby hee hath lost his limbs, but alsoe spent his estate and haveing at pr[e]sent an yearely Penc[i]on of Fifty shillings, but now being aged one hundred & Tenn yeares & noe wayes able to doe any thing to procure a lyvelyhood.
Most humbly therefore beseecheth yo[u]r Honors to be pleased that his Penc[i]on of Fifty shillings may bee augmented to Fower pounds p[er] ann[um] whereby hee may the more comfortably subsist, & likewise that yo[u]r wor[shi]pps would bee pleased to order ye Overseers of ye Poore of Lutton to allowe him some weekely allowance what yo[u]r hono[u]rs shall see fitt.
And yo[u]r Petic[i]oner shall humbly pray &c.
