The petition of Jeremy Gilbert of Lutton, Northamptonshire, April 1683

To the hono[ura]ble and wor[shipfu]ll the Justices of the Peace att this present Sessions.
The humble Petic[i]on of Jeremy Gilbert (aged above one hundred yeares)
Humbly sheweth
That whereas yo[u]r poore Petic[i]oner haveing faithfully served his Ma[jes]ty in the late warrs had an yearely Penc[i]on of Fifty shillings granted him by this Court which hath beene duely payd to him till that of late he intrusting his Order for his said Penc[i]on in the hands of one Thomas Allum the high Constable to receive his penc[i]on for him, his said Order about Harvest last (when as the said Mr Allums howse was Robbed) was amongst other writings of the said Mr Allum lost and miscarried soe that by reason thereof is at present debarred of his Penc[i]on.
Most humbly therefore beseecheth yo[u]r hono[u]rs to be pleased to graunt yo[u]r Petic[i]oner a new Order for the receiving of his said Penc[i]on the same to com[m]ence from Michaelmas last.
And yo[u]r poore Peticoner shall humbly pray &c.
