The Humble petic[i]on of Jennett Chapman Ellin Edmondson and Mary Hewetson poore distressed widdowes
Humbly Sheweth
That yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]rs husbands was [sic.] Souldiers in his Ma[jes]ties Service of ever blessed memory Charles the First, and alsoe in his Ma[jes]ties service that nowe is in w[hi]ch service yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]rs husbands was great Sufferers for theire Loyalty whoe alsoe Continued in the same to the End And were in the List of Maymed Souldiers and had the yearly pentions of Twenty Shillings or Foure Nowbles yeare apeece and haveinge thes Last yeare but Eight Shillings apeece Soe that yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]rs beinge very old and infirme besides the death of theire said husbands is [sic.] come to great want & necessity.
May it therefore please yo[u]r good worshipps to seriously Consider the sadd Condic[i]on of yo[u]r poore petic[i]oners whereby they may have a sufficient Allowance And that you would Grant yo[u]r order that the Tre[asure]r for the Maymed Souldiers may pay over the same to yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]rs and they in duty bound will ever pray &c
