The petition of Jane Leftwiche of Nantwich, Cheshire, 20 January 1652

To the Right Wor[shipfu]ll Richard Henry Brookes Esq[ui]r[e] and the rest of the Justices assembled at Northwich
The humble petic[i]on of Jane Leftwich widdowe
Sheweth
That William [illegible] Leftwiche your Petic[i]oners husband went a souldier vnder Col[one]l Danniell into Scotland at Whitsontide was tweluemoneth being one of the Col[one]ls Lieue=guard and there takeing the Countrey disease after 22 weekes stay returned backe againe and falling into a Consumption continued in a miserable Condition a long season And about a quarter of a yeare agoe dyed By whose losse of his lyme formerly and nowe of his life your Petic[i]oner with her three poore children are vtterly vndonne Hee being a bricklayer by his trade & ministring much helpe and assistance vnto vs
The premisses Considered your Petic[i]oner humbly craveth that your worships will yeild her some thing to releeue her and her pore children in their miserable want and necessity And they will be ever bound to pray &c
