The petition of Jane Houndwell of Bromham, Wiltshire, Hiliary 1651

To the Right Hon[oura]ble ye Justices of the Peace at the gen[er]all Quarter Sessions at New Saru[m]
The Humble petition of Jane Houndwell of Broomeham in the County aforesaid widdow.
Humbly sheweth yt yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]rs Husband being A troopper [sic.] in the Regim[en]t of Col[one]l Horton and dyed in the seruice of the Parliam[en]t Leaueing yo[u]r peti[ti]on[e]r w[i]th A poore Infirme Child and onely A smale sum of mony of about 6 or 7 li. which since is all spent soe that yo[u]r peti[ti]on[e]r with her s[ai]d Child is now left in A sad and miserable Condic[i]on And therefore desires this Hon[oura]ble Court to releiue her (By allowing her Som pr[e]sent sum of mony) According to An Act or Ordinance of parliam[en]t for Releife of Widdows & Orphans: whereby yo[u]r petitioner may be enabled to seeke remidy for her poore diseased Child & haue sum pr[e]sent Subsistance w[hi]ch yo[u]r peti[t]ioner is noe way able to procure by her Labour or other wise and as In duty bound your peti[ti]o[ne]r shall euer pray &c
Ordered to ye petitioner the summe of Fowre Pounds to bee payd by Mr Irye out of moneyes in his hands.
