The petition of James Watmough of Blackrod, Lancashire, July 1663

To ye Right Worshipp[ful] his Ma[jes]ties Justices of peace & Quor[um] at Manchester July 1663.

The humble petic[i]on of James Watmough of Blackrode.

Sheweth.

That whereas yo[u]r petic[i]oner By Certificate vnder ye hands of seu[er]all of his neighbours & one Will[ia]m Goodwen A Comisonate officer acquainted the Justices of peace ye Hundred of Salford yt hee was A Souldier in actuall armes for his late Ma[jes]tie & never diserted ye same service, By reason wherof ye said Justices allowed of him as A penc[i]oner & awarded him ye sume of one pound [illegible] fifteene shillings: But by ye false informac[i]on of one John Grimshawe of Aspall yo[u]r petic[i]oners Certificates aft[e]r ye Receipt of one paym[en]t were disallowed of & made voide

The pr[e]misses Considered your petic[i]oner humbly prayeth your good Worrshipps to bee pleased to grante yt yo[u]r pettic[i]oner may come to A tryall & see or hear ye Informac[i]on ag[ains]t him likewise & bee pleased to hear yo[u]r petic[i]oners evidence ag[ains]t ye said Informac[i]on & yo[u]r pettic[i]oner as in duty bounde will ever pray &c
