The petition of James Stanley of Skelmersdale, Lancashire, 18 July 1676

To the Right Worshipfull his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the peace & Quor[um] att the gen[e]rall Quarter Sessions of the peace held att Ormskirke the 18th day of July Anno Dom[ini] 1676.
The Humble petic[i]on of James Stanley of Skelm[e]rsdall husb[andman]
Sheweth
That yo[u]r petic[i]oner faithfully served his Ma[jes]tie in the Late Warrs & is and Alwayes hath beene A true & faithfull Subject to his Ma[jes]tie,
May it therefore please yo[u]r good Worshipps the pr[e]misses considered to grant vnto your petic[i]oner the next pension that shall fall by death of some one that now hath pay or which shall otherwise bee discharged from the same And yo[u]r petic[i]oner as in duty bound shall ever pray &c
I haveing heard the petic[i]oner doe Certifie that that the said James Standly was souldier vnder the Comand of Capt[ain] Barrowe in which Company I was Sergent, and the officers are all dead except my selfe which said James did alwayes make manifest his loyalty in the said service all which I humbly Certifie
