The petition of James Foster, Thomas Smirthwaite, Christopher Thwaytes, Henry Fearnley, James Esh, Christopher Bailes, Alexander Patrick and John Stanckcliffe, all of Leeds, West Riding of Yorkshire, October 1675

To the ho[noura]ble his Ma[jes]t[ie]s Justices of peace at the Quarter sess[ion]s holden at Wakefeild in Oct[ober] 1675.

The humble pettic[i]on of James Foster Thomas Smirthwaite Chr[istoph]er Thwaytes Henry Fearnley James Esh Chr[istoph]er Bailes Alex[ander] Patrick & John Stanckcliffe all of Leedes.

Sheweth

That at the last Quarter holden at Leedes in July last yo[u]r pettic[i]oners seu[er]all penc[i]ons was stopt & vnpaid them by the Threa[sure]r & is still unpaid them oweing they being very poor & Indigent by meanes wheereof they have beene putt to hard shifts & not able to gett bread sufficyent for the releefe of them & their familyes.

The pet[itione]rs therefore humbly pray this ho[noura]ble Bench to take the pr[e]misses into yo[u]r seryous Charitable considerac[i]on And to order the Threa[sure]r not onely to pay them their arrears, but likewise this p[re]sent Quarters pay

And they will daily pray &c
