To ye worshippfull his Majestyes Justices of ye Peace at the Sessions holden at Preston vpon Thursday ye eleaventh day of July in the thirteenth yeere of the Raigne of o[u]r said soveraigne Lord Charles ye second kinge of England &c
The humble petic[i]on of James Dobson of Lagram in ye County of Lancaster husbandman.
Humblie sheweth yt yo[u]r petitioner was a listed Souldier in ye late warrs in his late Majestyes Service, vnder the Comand of Major John Hughes in w[hi]ch service (by yo[u]r petition[e]r by his faithfull service) yo[u]r petition[er] [illegible] was at the Battell at Kigley in ye County of Yorke maimed & hath ever since wanted ye vse of one of his leggs by reason of w[hi]ch maime hee hath beene altogether vnable & vnfitt since that tyme hee received it to follow his former inploym[en]t as before yt tyme hee could have done, by reason whereof hee is driven into poverty & want & is [illegible] not able to mantaine himselfe his wife & children w[i]thout releife:
Wherefore yo[u]r Petition[e]r doth humbly desire that yo[u]r worshipps in considerac[i]on of his maime & poverty would bee pleased to grant him an ord[e]r thereby appointinge the Treasurer to pay him ye pay of a maimed souldier as much & in such manner as yo[u]r worshipps shall thinke fit & yo[u]r petitioner shall ever pray &c
