The petition of Isabell Gaskell of Upholland, Lancashire, 20 July 1668

To the right wor[shipfu]ll his ma[jesty]s Justices of peace and Quor[um] att their Sessions of peace holden att Orm[skir]k xxo die Julii 1668.
The humble Petic[i]on of Isabell Gaskell late wife of Will[ia]m Gaskell of Holland deceassed a poore Impotent woman in behalfe of herselfe and her fowre smale Children
Sheweth.
That whereas yo[u]r pet[itione]rs late husband was alwaies faithfull & Loyall to his Ma[jes]ty and was wounded and maymed in his service in the Warrs and had therefore had allowed him xx s. a yeare as a Pension, and beinge nowe dead hathe left yo[u]r pet[itione]r & iiii Children in a lamentable poore Condic[i]on.
May it therefore please yo[u]r good wor[shi]ps to grant yo[u]r Order that the Ou[er]seers of the poore of Holland may allowe fo yo[u]r pet[itione]r for the releiffe of her poore Children such weekly Maintenance as yo[u]r wor[shi]ps shall thinke meete, and yo[u]r pet[itione]r shall dayly pray &c
