The petition of Isabel Pont, residence unknown, August 1645

A particular Informatc[i]on of the distressed condic[i]on of Isabel Pont the widow of Serjeant Maior Pont
Sheweth
That her said husband served as Capt[ai]n and Maior of Horse in Warwicke and Coventry before the Lord Brooks his death by whome hee was entertained vntill about October last, he was vnfortunately slaine vpon service
<this will appeare by his Comissions>
That her said husband receaved not in all that time soe much pay as would defray the charge of raising his Troope, And when shee was a suiter for her husbands Arrears w[hi]ch are greate, the Comittee for takeing the Accompts of Warwickshire, sent for her husbands Clarke and tooke from him her husbands booke of Account and all papers belonging to his Troope, By which meanes shee cannot learne what is due vnto him, and in the meane time shee is ready to famish.
Shee doth therefore humblie desire this hono[ura]ble Comittee, for takeing the Accounts of the Kingdome That they will direct their order or warr[an]t vnto the said Comittee of warwickshire to send vp her husbands booke of Accompt and other papers & writings vnto you, That so his Arrears iustly appearing hereby, a course may be taken for her speedie satisfacc[i]on in part or in whole.
