To the Right Wor[shi]p[fu]ll his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the Peace for the County of Devon.
The humble Petition of Hugh Sexon of the p[ar]ish of Northam in the County aforesaid.
Sheweth:
That your poore Petitioner hath Served his Sacred Ma[jes]tie King Charles the first of blessed memory in the Late unhappy Warrs for Severall years; under the Com[m]and of Colonell Digby In which Service your poore petitioner received divers wounds, being thereby utterly disabled to gett his livelyhood by his labour. he therefore leaves the Commiseration of his Sad Condition to your Wor[shi]ps tender Consideration; to allott him Such a yearly pension as to your discretions Shall Seem fitt, and your poore petitioner as in duty bound Shall ever pray &c.
Wee whose names are hereunto Subscribed being to our knowledge, well assured of the Loyallty of your Petition[e]r, doe on yo[u]r Petition[e]rs behalfe certifye of the trueth of this Petition, the thirtieth day of Decemb[e]r 1683
