The petition of Hugh Myddelton, Denbighshire, 24 April 1666

To the right Wor[shi]p[fu]ll his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the peace for the Countie of Denbigh &c.
The humble petic[i]on of Hugh Myddelton gent[leman]
Sheweth
That y[our] Wor[shi]pps petic[i]on[e]r was an Ensigne in the Regiment of the hono[ura]ble S[i]r Thomas Salusburie k[nigh]t & Baronett Colon[e]ll deceased at the beginning of the late rebellion as by a Commission superscribed by his late Ma[jes]tie of blessed memorie may appeare & that by the vnsuccesfulnesse of the warre his great expence with continuing loyall all along to his p[rese]nt Ma[jes]ties restauration to his Crowne & dignitie hee is reduced to a lownesse of an estate & knowing yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps are Impowerd to releiue such as yo[u] conceaue meritorious & that yo[u] haue done soe to manie as yo[ur] petic[i]on[er] is Informd.
May it please yo[ur] Wor[shi]pps to take into yo[ur] Considerac[i]on his depressed condic[i]on occaciond as formerlie expressd & to order something for his better subsistance as yo[ur] in yo[ur] wisedoms shall thinke most fit & requisite &c
And yo[ur] petic[i]on[er] shall ever pray &c

Ordered that the said Hugh be allowed and doe receiue the foure first vacant places of xx s. a yere and that shall fall out to dy[e] or be displaied vntill he have the some of foure pounds yearely to be quarterly paid him by the Treasurer of the maymed souldiers
