The petition of Hugh Lewis of Boduan, Carnarvonshire, 16 April 1672

To the right wor[shi]pp[fu]ll & wor[shi]pp[fu]ll the Justices of peace of the County of Carnarvon sittinge att the quarter sessions of the peace for the sayd County att Carnarvon the 16th day of Aprill anno domini 1672.
The humble petition of Hugh Lewis of Bodvyan in the sayd County labourer.

That your poore peticoner hath faythfully served his late Majesties kinge Charles the first of ever blessed memory as a foote souldier (beinge pressed out of this County) vnder the Commaund of the most honoured & gratious Prince Rupert in his life guard of Halberdiers & under the same comaund your peticoner was att seuerall fights Battles & skirmishes vizt: at the storminge of Boulton in Llanceisheir, the Battle at Marston Moore in the Countye of Yorke the sheige of Leverpoole & in seuerall other places in this kingedome & hath allways continued truely loyall to his sayd Majesties & to his Majestie yt now is & by reason of the sayd services is become indigent pore & vnable to releive himselfe his wife & five smale children.
May it therfore please youre worrshipps to allow your peticoner a pencon with & amongest the maymed souldiers of this County & your peticoner shall ever pray &c.
18o April 1672. This petitioner vpon this peticon is admitted to receaue A yearely stipend of xx s. p[er] Cur[ia].
