The petition of Hugh James of Llanfihangel-y-Pennant, Carnarvonshire, 1660
To the right wor[shipfu]ll his Ma[jes]ties the Justices of peace assembled in the present Quarter Sessions for the County of Carnarvan.
The humble petition of Hugh James.
Sheweth that your pet[itione]r about thirtie six yeares since was ymprest by the then Cunstable of Llanvyhangley Pennant in the saide County to serve his Late Ma[jes]ty of blessed memory in his service in Ireland where hee contynued in that obedience about the space of two and twenty yeares and afterwards was transported from thence into England vnder the Comaunde of S[i]r Anthony Willoughby where with fidelity hee served his saide Ma[jes]ty about the space of three yeares. But soe itt is and please your wor[shi]pps that your pet[itione]r is very poore aged and ympotent by reason of his woundes rec[eive]d in the saide service, and hath not wherewithall to mainteyne hymselfe or to releeve his greate want & necessitie.
May itt therefore please your wor[shi]pps to take som[m]e compassion & Com[m]iserac[i]on on his distressed condic[i]on and give order for such annuall Allowance to be paide hym out of the Maymed Sould[io]rs mize towards his subsistence & releife, as to your wor[shi]pps shall seeme fitt & expedient.
And your pet[itione]r in duty bounde will ever pray &c.
