The petition of Hugh Cheswis of Marbury, Cheshire, Trinity 1663

To the Right Wor[shi]p[fu]ll the Justices of peace for the s[ai]d County
The humble Petic[i]on of Hugh Cheswis of Marbury:
Most humbly shewth:
That yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]r served in the late warrs vnder the Right hono[ura]ble the Earle of Leinster deceased in the service of his late Ma[jes]tie of Blessed memory for the space of 4 or 5 yeares: vntill hee was wounded, imprisoned, & vtterly ruined, That noe suffering whatsoever hath in the least pr[e]vailed with your Petic[i]on[e]r in all the late times of temptac[i]on to recede from his first principles, but to his power hee hath alwayes been ready to engage in the same cause; That hee hath hithertoe with much difficultie mainteined himselfe wife & familie by Gods Blessing on his weake endeavours, but being now growen old & infirme is not able to doe it any longer.
And therfore hee most humbly beseeches your good Wor[shi]ps that hee may bee admitted [as] a Penc[i]on[e]r amongst others in the like case, & receiue such Penc[i]on Quarterly out of the County stocke As in your wisdomes shal bee thought fitt.
And hee shall ever pray &c:
