The petition of Howell Johnes, Denbighshire, 19 April 1664

The humble petic[i]on of Howell Johnes
To the Right wor[shi]p[fu]ll his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the peace for the County of Denbigh
Sheweth vnto your Wor[shi]ps that your poore petic[i]oner beinge listed a souldier vnder the Com[m]and of Collonell Robinson, and havinge serued vnder his Comand in seuerall places where your petic[i]oner receiued and had many sore and dangerous wounds, and also yo[u]r petic[i]oner afterwards was pressed for a souldier vnder the comand of Maior Thomas who ledd yo[u]r petic[i]oner to Oxford and therein & thereabouts yo[u]r petic[i]oner did serue vnder the Com[m]and of the said Maior, and was wounded very sore vnder his said com[ma]nd and was also imprisoned in the tyme that Captayne Crychley was in power, to yo[u]r petic[i]oners vndoinge; beinge the father of Eyght children.
May yt please yo[u]r Wor[shi]ps to Comiserate yo[u]r poore petic[i]oners sadd and weake Condic[i]on and to graunt vnto yo[u]r petic[i]oner such an allowance for a Maymed souldyer as to yo[u]r Wor[shi]ps shall seeme fytt: and your poore petic[i]oner shall euer praye &c.
The Petitioner hath benne a soldier vnder my Com[m]and as it is aboue specifyed.
