The petition of Henry Porter of Moore, Cheshire, Michaelmas 1651

To the right wor[shipfu]ll the Justics [sic.] of the Peace for the County of Chester att their Quarter Sessions att Northwich;
The humble Petition of Henry Porter of Moore
Humbly sheweth that your Petition[e]r hath been a faithfull freind to the Parliam[en]t ever since the beginninge of these warrs and vppon all occasions shewed himself very ready for their service was at Weston Sands wounded sore & taken Prisoner by the Enemy & after on his proper cost redeemed himself after w[hi]ch your Petition[e]r was w[i]th his teame taken againe Prisoner by the Enemy to Warrington to his great loss & p[re]judice and att the late comeinge of the Scotts into this County yo[u]r petitio[ne]rs [illegible] Cart and one horse was imprested to goe w[i]th Provision to the Parliam[en]ts Army on Stockton heath by the Constable of the said Towneshipps of Moore and that hee went and happening into the reare of the Parliam[en]ts Army where there was a fight w[i]th the Scotts the said horse was taken by them to the great & further damage of your petition[e]r: besides yo[u]r Petitio[ne]rs great losses att the Scotts invasion about three yeares since
May it therefore please yo[u]r worshipps the pr[e]mises considered to grant your Order for the value of the said horse which is five pownds ten shillings to bee equally proportioned in the s[ai]d Towne & soe paid As well as your petitioner is contributory to other mens losses w[i]thin the s[ai]d Towneship his equall share, And your Petitioner as in duty bound will ever pray.
