The petition of Henry Marriott of Twywell, Northamptonshire, Epiphany 1675

To the Worshipfull his Magesties Justices of the Peace for the County of Northampton[shire] in Quarter Sessions assembled The humble Petic[i]on of Henry Marriott of Twywell in the said County
Humbly Sheweth that yo[u]r Petic[i]oner in the late Civill Wares in this Nation served his late Sacred Magestie as a Souldier in S[i]r Charles Comptons Troope in the Regiment of the Right Hono[ura]ble James Earle of Northampton In w[hi]ch Service did faithfully and loyally demeane himselfe Receiveing therein many greate Wounds and hurts Togeather with the losse of much blood as by certificate thereof herewith Annexed appeares w[hi]ch hath now Reduced yo[u]r Petic[i]oner to very greate Exegences & Straights of Poverty haueing nothing left now to maintaine himselfe And therefore Inevitably must perish vnlesse pr[e]vented by yo[u]r Charity
May it therefore please yo[u]r Worshipps to graunte vnto yo[u]r Petic[i]oner a Pention soe that yo[u]r Petic[i]on[e]r may not perish for wante of reasonable Maintenance And yo[u]r Petic[i]oner shall ever pray &c
<The petition[e]r allowed 3 li. p[er] Annu[m] 2 li. – 10 s. – p[er] Annu[m] to bee paid [illegible] Q[uarte]rly the first paym[en]t this pr[e]sent Sessions & the penc[i]on to bee paid till further ord[e]r.>
