The petition of Henry Gibbons of Churton, Cheshire, Trinity 1653

To the Right wor[sh]ip[fu]ll the Justices of peace at the gen[er]all Sessions Assembled
The humble petic[i]on of Henry Gibbons of Churton
<Sheweth>
That whereas yo[u]r poore petic[i]on[e]r hath liued in good repute & Credite and mayntayned himselfe his wife and 3 small Children by his owne hand labor and paynes and seeing that hee is now become poore & vnable to take any house or tenem[en]t vpon a racke rent and for that yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r was borne and for the most p[ar]te of his life liued in Churton afores[ai]d w[i]thin the p[ar]ish of Odford excepting in these late warres, dureing most of w[hi]ch tyme hee went a Souldier & hazarded his life in the publique service, vnder the Comand of Capt[ain] Gimberte in this County, and now wanting an habitac[i]on for his future abode
May if therefore please yo[u]r wor[sh]ips Considering the the [sic.] pr[e]misses to grante yo[u]r poore petic[i]on[e]r an Order of this Corte to enable him to erecte a Cottage vpon some Convenient p[ar]te of the waste of Churton afores[ai]d for himselfe and wife to dwell in dureing their liues, hee first obtayning License from the Lord of the Soyle there soe to doe
