The petition of Henry Edwards of Wellingborough, Northamptonshire, Michaelmas 1682

To the Right Hon[oura]ble his Ma[jes]t[y]s Justices of the Peace at the Quarter Sessions for the County of North[amp]ton[shire].
The Humble Petic[i]on of Henry Edwards of Wellingborow
Humbly Sheweth.
That yo[u]r poore Peticon[e]r was vnd[e]r Gunn[e]r in his late Ma[jes]t[y]s service vnd[e]r the Com[m]and of the Right Hon[oura]ble the Earle of North[amp]ton & S[i]r Will[ia]m Compton at Banbury Castle And soe Continued vntill the Castle was yeelded vpp As by a Certificate vnd[e]r his Lord[shi]pps hand herevnto Annexed doth Ap[p]eare, And in throwing a Fireball disabled from following his Labo[u]r And being Aged & having a wife & Small Children & poore & necessitous.
May it therefore please yo[u]r hon[ou]rs to take the p[re]mises into yo[u]r Considerac[i]on And to Allowe vnto yo[u]r poore Petic[i]on[e]r a yearly penc[i]on towards the Maintenance of himselfe & Family And yo[u]r Poore Petic[i]on[e]r as in duty bound shall eu[e]r pray &c:
