The petition of Griffith ap Rees of Twysog, Denbighshire, 14 July 1663

To the Right wo[rshipfu]ll the Justices of the peace for ye county of Denbigh
The humble petic[i]on of Griffith ap Rees of Twysog in the p[ar]ish of Henllan
Sheweth
That your pett[itione]r hath served his late Ma[jes]ties of blessed memory in the warrs for many yeares in the Regim[en]t of Collonell William Wynne, & vnder the com[m]aund of Capt[ai]n Thomas Price as apeareth by the certificate of the said capt[ai]n, who after the death of the s[ai]d Collonell served his Ma[jes]tie vntill he receaved a wound & a sore bruise vpon his knee at the Lee Bridge in Shropshire, & when he recou[e]red that partly he streined to Follow the s[ai]d warrs all a long, wherin he continued a true & faithfull souldier vntill the s[ai]d warrs were ended, And now your pett[itione]r, being a very poore man, having a wife & eleaven small children humbly prayeth your Wor[shi]pps to comisserate his poore condic[i]on & to graunt him what yearley penc[i]on your Wor[shi]pps shall thinke meete of the maymed solders mize towards his wiefe, & his eleaven small childrens releife & mainteniance, & your pett[itione]r will euer pray &c
