The petition of Godfrey Bawdison of Swinton, West Riding of Yorkshire, July 1671

To the Hono[ura]ble his Ma[jes]t[y]s Justices of the peace for the west riding of the County of Yorke:
The Humble petition of Godfrey Bawdison of Swinton.
Sheweth,
That your peititoner hath been Admitted for diuerse yeares past as A pentioner, & receiued his Quarterly pay from Sessions to Sessions as a lame souldier, till now of late; not knowing any reason att all, he being always truly Loyall & indigent, neuer rebelling nor deserting that good cause of his Ma[jes]t[y]s service, who now waxeth into great yeares, being weake & impotent & in such greate pouertie that he is likely to want, being not able to worke nor Follow any imploym[en]t whereby to get his liueinge nor maintaine his familie; Humbly implores the fauour of this Hono[ra]ble Bench that y[ou]r Hon[ou]rs will be pleased to take his deplored Condic[i]on into y[ou]r serious Considerac[i]on & order it soe, that he may receiue his pention as formerly.
And your petitioner as in duty bound shall ever pray &c.
Wee whose names are herevnto subscribed doe humbly disire y[ou]r hono[u]rs will be pleased to Admitt of y[ou]r poore peti[it]oner as abovesaid, wee being his neighbours & knowing his Condic[i]on.
