The Humble Petetion of Gilbert Lane of the Parrish of St Thomas the Apostell in the County of Deuon Woollenme[rce]r
Most humbly Sheweth to Y[ou]r Honnours
That Y[ou]r poore pet[itione]rs Father hauinge been a Soldier in the Late vnhappy Wars, in his Majesties Army Kinge Charles the First of Blessed Memory and beinge a wounded man was allowed a Pension of Forty Shillings a Yeer, Y[ou]r pet[itione]r hauinge uery lately buried his sayd Father and all things beinge disbursed by Yo[u]r pet[itione]r in order to his sayd Fathers buriall Yo[u]r pet[itione]r beinge being [sic.] a uery poor Man and vnable to leave the sayd Expences beseeches yo[u]r Hon[ou]rs that yo[u]r pet[itione]r May haue this last Quarters pay in w[hi]ch yo[u]r pet[itione]rs Father died and as in duty bound
