The petition of George Robinson, City and County of Canterbury, 22 July 1651

To the right wor[ship]full the Judge and Justices assembled at the generall quarter Session holden at the old Castle of Canterbury this 22th of July 1651.

The most humble petition of George Robinson of the said City Heelemaker.

Your wor[shi]pps said poore petic[i]on[e]r goeing in the Par[lia]m[en]ts service vnder the commaund of Colonel Springet and in the Company whereof Mr William Jones was Capt[ain] at the first fight at Nvberry was shott in one of his legs by meanes whereof he lay in the Hospitall of Bartholomew neere Smithfield in London by the space of halfe a yeere lame and sore diseased in his body. And another halfe yeere after his departure thence in a Chirurgeons hand before he was able to worke, having had above threescoare splinters of the bone of his legg at severall times taken out, to his great paines and his owne and his friends great charge, whereby he is not alone disabled to follow his vocation, but is almost continually in intollerable paine thereof, of which he cannot hope of any remedy during his life.

In compassion whereof, he most humbly beseecheth yo[u]r good wor[shi]pps to bestow on him such Pension towards his reliefe as to yo[u]r wisdoms shall seeme meete.

In doeing whereof you shall binde him and his euer to pray for yo[u]r wor[shi]pps perpetuall happiness.

<We whose names are here=vnto subscribed in consdierac[i]on of this poore mans hurt do thinke yo[u]r wor[shi]pps shall p[er]forme a charitable deed in granting his petition.>
