The petition of George Pantle of Hereford, Herefordshire, 10 January 1667

To the Right Wor[shi]ppfull Hugh Rodd Esq[ui]r[e] mayor of the Citty of Hereford; and to all of his Wor[shi]pps Fraternity whom it may Concerne
The humble petic[i]on of George Pantle of the said Citty mason
Humbly Shewinge to yo[u]r Wor[shi]pp that yo[u]r pet[iti]oner was euer a true and Loyall subiect in his Ma[jes]ties seruis, of blessed memory dec[eased], for that he ventured his Life Seuerall times oppon Salleys and what other Seruis your petic[ione]r was Commanded vppon against the rebellious Scotts: and hath neu[er] decerted the seruis, but hath taken the seu[er]all oaths of Supremacy and Allegiance to his Ma[jes]tie his heyres and successors. Yo[u]r petioner beinge now very Lame not able to worke for a Liuelihoode; in regard of the pr[e]mises affores[ai]d humbly Entreateth that
Yo[u]r good Wor[shi]pp will be please out of Trancendent goe Goodness to Exhibitt to yo[u]r poore Pe[ti]c[ione]r some Hospitall w[i]thin yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps Juridiction and yo[u]r poor pett[itione]r shall eu[er] pray for Yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps health and happiness
