The Humble Petic[i]on of George Jolliffe
<Humbly> sheweth that yo[u]r Poore Petic[i]on[e]r for many yeares faithfullie served his late ma[jes]tie Kinge Charles the first of blessed memorie in his warrs, yo[u]r poore Petic[i]on[e]r hath often byn imprisoned, threatned w[i]th hanginge, and neere brought to Judgment hath receaved many wounds and many bruises in his head and body w[i]th the losse of one of his eyes whereby hee is disabled to labour and both himselfe and his wife and children are like to starue.
In Tend[e]r Considerac[i]on of the pr[e]misses yo[u]r Pet[itione]r havinge byn imprisoned so often in gaged so often & suffered so much that none hath suffered more.
May it please yo[u]r good worshipps to Commiserate the sad distresses of yo[u]r poore Petic[i]oner to graunt him a Penc[i]on whreby hee may bee enabled to lyue; and hee shall daylie to pray for yo[u]r worshipps good healthes, increase of honour in this life, and eu[er]lasting happines hereafter.
