The petition of George Honey of Puddington, Cheshire, Trinity 1661

To the Right Wor[shi]pp[fu]ll the Justices assembled for his ma[jes]ties seruice at Chester.
The humble petition of George Honey of Pothington w[i]thin ye County of Chester. Worr[all] Hundred
<Sheweth>
That whereas your peti[ti]oner as a vounteir and freely vpon his own accord vnder the Comand of Col[one]l Monke now Lord Duke of Albymarle in Capt[ain] John Disney his foot Company Engaged in the Irish warr, for the Space of two yeares besides much hardshipp during yt tyme for his Ma[jes]ties seruice, receiued a lamenes in his hand to his great damage & almost vtter ruine to his wife and charge.
And afterwards to his vtmost abylytye Endeauoured to doe his ma[jes]tie ye best seruice he was able to p[er]form here in England vnder ye Com[m]and of Col[one]l Warren vnder ye Conduct of ye foresaid Capt[ain] Disney during all ye tyme his Ma[jes]tie had any forces in ye feild.
And now last of all to shew further his continued reall {re}soluc[i]ons to doe his Ma[jes]tie his best seruice vnder ye Com[m]and of Col[one]l William Stanley now knight and Bar[ro]n[e]tt in the then S[i]r George Booth now Lord Dallumoore as a volunteere freely engaged
The humble desire of your petic[i]oner is yt the Hon[oura]ble bench will consider his miserable Condic[i]on forced therevnto for his loyalty to doe his ma[jes]tie seruice to his vtmost power and afford him what y[ou]r Clemencie and pitty towards his pr[e]sent maintenance may afford and will grant & dispose
