The petition of George Higinson of Ribbleton, Lancashire, 25 April 1661

The humble petic[i]on of Georg Higinson of Ribleton
Humbly Sheweth yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps that he the said Georg Higinson hath liued in in the Towns[hi]pp of Ribleton for many yeares & likwise was prest souldier into Ireland for the said Towne: & since his returne did Marie his wife in the said Towne, who hath bourne him two Children there & was hath beene tenant to Mr Pigot the space of foure years w[h]ich now Mr Pigot being resolued to disposse of his house some other way, soe that now yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps Petic[i]oner is at want of a house & not knowing what to doe w[i]th his wife and Children, by reason there is not any to be lett for his mony in the said Towne & he supposses yt if he be tourned out of the said Towne that he can[n]ot be receiued into any other by reason of his Charge w[hi]ch as yett hath not bene troublsome to any but hath mantained them w[i]th his hard labours honestly amongst his Neighbours yo[u]r said petic[i]on[e]r moued the inhabitance of the Towne of Ribleton that they would be pleased as to lett him haue a p[ar]cell of Ground in the said Towne ether of the Com[m]on or in any other place, & he would build him a house of his owne charge & become the Townes ten[n]ant; & would pay the said Towne a yearly rent dureing a lease by them granted w[hi]ch yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r supposses in season might be granted consid[e]ring his wife & Children was bourne in the said Towne & neuer liued in any other place, & likwise yo[u]r said petic[i]on[e]r haueing ventred his life a Souldier for the said Towne thinks in reason he might haue an house in the same Towne for his mony
May it therefore please yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps to take to Considerac[i]on the pr[e]misses abouesaid that yo[u]r humble petic[i]oner may fynd fauour att yo[u]r good Wor[shi]pps pleasure; & that yo[u]r said petic[i]on[e]r may & will be euer bound to pray for yo[u]r Wor[shi]pps good health & happiness; tranquillitie & peace for euer
