The petition of George Henly of Broad Clyst, Devon, 1699

To the worshipfull Nicholas Morice Esq[ui]r[e] and all other his Ma[jes]ties Justices of the Sessions for the said County now beinge att the Castle of Exon
The humble petic[i]on of George Henly A poore man in the p[ar]ish of Broadclist humbly Sheweth
That he was A Souldier in his Late Ma[jes]ties Service King Charles the First and in his service vnder the Comand of S[i]r John Ackland did Receive Severall wounds by reson of which togeather with his Old Age is Altogeather vnable to gett his Liuelyhood, These are therefore to desire yo[u]r worshipps to take yo[u]r poore petic[i]oners Condic[i]on into yo[u]r serious Considerac[i]on & that yo[u]r Poore Petic[i]oner may be Releived in some manner by some way of A pencion of the County Stock Accordinge to the Act of Parliam[en]t in that Case made & p[ro]vided And yo[u]r Poore Petic[i]oner shall Ever as in dutie bound pray for yo[u]r worshipps
