The petition of George Harthill of Atherstone, Warwickshire, 26 October 1648

To the honour[a]ble Comittee for the Safety of the County of Warwicke and the City and County of Covintrie.
The humble peticon of George Harthill of Atherstone laborer
Sheweth
That your Peticoner had three sonns slaine in the States service wherof one of them was named Nicolas Harthill who was slaine at Sterton feight vnder the Command of Captaine Thomas Hunt, at which time ther was due vnto the sayd Nicolas tenne pounds or thereabouts vpon arrears as John Clarke then a Corporall in the same Troupe can Justifie
These are therfore humbly to intreate you that you will be pleased to take the premisses into your pyous consideracons and to graunt your poore Peticoner an Order for the gaining of the sayd arrears Towards The releiving of his aged wife and his other Children and y[ou]r peticoner shall dayly pray &c.

We desire you to pay to ye petic[i]on[e]r a moneths pay for his sonne Nicholas Hartlett at ye next pay day slayne at Sturton castle at ye next pay-day.
