The humble Petic[i]on of George Hancocke a Sicke Souldier Clerke to the Companye of Captaine Dennys Taylor under the Comaund of Collonell Mountagu

Humbly Sheweth that whereas your petitioner haueing bene out uppon Seruice for the parliament euer Since Christmas being Clerke to the Companye of Captaine Dennys Taylor under the Com[m]aund of Collonel Mountagu, and hath beene uppon all the Designes that hath beene one foote Since his goeing forth, as at the takeing of Linkhorne, the Scaleing the wales of the manner yard at Yorke, the Battell against Prince Rupert, the takeing Sheffeld Castle Tickhill Castle Welbeck house Bozer Castle Stayley house and lastlye Wingfeild manner, Now Soe it is right Worshipfull euer Since August your Sup[plicant] hath bene vissitted with Sicknes in Soe much that he hath beene euer Since Carryed uppon a Cart after the armye untill Such tyme as he was Soe weake that he and another Sick Souldier one Robert Fawcett weare brought from Baldocke uppon a Cart to Cambridge, where now he lyeth both Sicke and Lame not haueing wherewithall to releiue him Selfe,, he haueing 18 weekes pay due to him at 10 s. 6 d. the weeke allowed by the right honourable the Earle of Manchester

His humble request is that your worships would be pleased to take his distressed estate into you Charitable Considerac[i]on, not able to helpe him Selfe haueing done his {illegible} endeauor in the Seruise, and that your good Worships would be pleased to afford him Sum meanes out of his pay to releiue him in his Sicknes; untill Such tyme as his Captaine Shall Come to towne, otherwaies that your Supp[lican]t Shall procure a Certificate under his Captaines hand to Certefye unto your worships what is due unto your Supp[lican]t, and he as in dutye Shall euer pray.
