The humble Petition of George Gyfford
Sheweth
That Aboue 30 yeares since hee was A souldier and Wounded in the Voyage to the Isle of Rea In Consideration whereof hee had A Pension of 6 li. p[er] An[num] allowed him by the then Justices of Peace of this County w[hi]ch hee enioyed vntill the beginning of the Late vnhappy Warres in this kingdome
Nowe soe it is may it please your Worshipps that your Petitioner beinge Growne very old and his Labour and Seruice decaying your Worshipps would bee Pleasd to Renewe his s[ai]d Pension vnto him or what else your Worshipp shall thinke fitt hee hauinge beene Ruind in his small Fortune by A Long Imprisonement at Exon beinge taken Prisoner in the Late engagement w[i]th Col[one]l Penruddocke and had beene sold A slaue to the Barbadoes had not his Age Rendred him vncapable of Toyle and Seruice
And for soe great An Act of Charity towards him your Pet[itione]r as in duty Bownd shall euer Pray for your Worshipps health and Prosperity
