The petition of George Cowper of Lancaster, Lancashire, 15 July 1673

To his Ma[jes]ties Justices of Peace & Quor[um] att the Gen[er]all Quarter Sessions of holden at Lanc[aste]r the 15th day of July 1673.

The humble petic[i]on of George Cowper of Lanc[aste]r

Humbly Sheweth

That yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r beinge a very poore man and hath a wyfe & three Smale Children & hath nothinge wherewith to maintaine them w[i]thall but what he getteth by his owne handy labour & hitherto [illegible] hath had a pention out of the moneyes of the Maymed Souldiers therefore desireth yo[u]r wor[shi]pps to grant vnto him some Allowance for he hath beene faithfull to his Ma[jes]tie of ever blessed memory as by A Certificate hereto anexed may more at large Appeare.

May it therefore please good worshipps [sic.] to seriously Consider the poore Condic[i]on of yo[u]r petic[i]on[e]r & he in duty bound will ever pray &c.
