The petition of George Cock, Town and County of Newcastle-upon-Tyne, 25 June 1660

For his most sacred Maiesty

The Humble petition of George Cock of Newcastle

Sheweth that y[ou]r petioner was one of the first In England that ingaged in the service of y[ou]r Royall Father of most Honord memory, in w[hi]ch he was twyce shott & twyce taken prisoner & when after some years imprisonment realeased, in pursuanc of his loyalty he left this kingdome & hath For ii years remayned abroad till the tyme of the Happy restoration of y[ou]r most sacred Maiesty, yet because he knowes that All this done was but his duty he doth Humbly pray

That y[ou]r Sacred Maiesty for the Incoragement of well dooing would be gratiously pleased to make him one of the Customers of y[ou]r Maiestys Custome house in y[ou]r port of Newcastle vpon Tyne during his lyfe & he shall ever pray

<His Ma[jes]ty is Pleased in considerac[i]on of the Petitioners Services & sufferings to referre the examination of the Petitioners desires vnto the Right Hono[ura]ble the L[or]ds Comissioners of the Treasury to acquaint his Ma[jes]ty what may be fitt to be don, where vpon his Ma[jes]ty will declare his further pleasure>
