The petition of Francis Whitwell of Nassington, Northamptonshire, Easter 1662

To the Right ho[noura]ble & Right Wor[shi]p[fu]ll: the Justices of Peace att the generall Quarter Sessions for ye County of North[amp]ton[shire] assembled.
The humble Petic[i]on of Francis Whitwell of Nassington in the said County labourer.
Sheweth.
That whereas yo[u]r pet[itione]r was in the late warres a soldier for his Ma[jes]tie vnder the com[m]aund of Captaine Armstronge att Ancaster fight and sundry other places where hee received seu[er]all woundes in his bodye. And also was most cruelly vsed & all his goods taken away by the Parliam[e]nt soldiers after his returne home By reason whereof yo[u]r pet[titone]r is in a sad & deplorable condic[i]on & altogether disabled (being of the age of 60 yeares & vpwards) to p[ro]vide for himself and family.
May it therefore please the ho[noura]ble Bench the premisses considered to graunt vnto yo[u]r poore pet[itione]r a penc[i]on for his life out of the publique stock of the Countye.
And yo[u]r poore pet[itione]r shall (as in duty bound) ever pray &c.
The petic[i]oner is allowed 26 s. 8 d. yearly out of the east division when it shall fall in order
