The petition of Faith Jacob of London (St Andrew Holborn Parish), Middlesex, 1672

To the Right Hono[ura]ble S[i]r Robert Hanson K[nigh]t Lord Maior of the Citty of London
The humble Peticon of Faith Jacob widowe.
Sheweth
That the Pet[titione]rs late husband John Jacob was before the late unhappy troubles an Inhabitant in the parish of S[ain]t Andrew Holborne London where hee maintained himselfe and family in good Creditt and repute; from whence hee {several illegible words} Souldier in the troope of Col[onel]Edward Forde in whose service he behaved himselfe {?very} faithfull and loyall {illegible} to his late {Majesty of} Blessed memory until ye time of {illegible} as by the Certificates annexed appears.
That the pet[itione]r in Considerac[i]on of the pr[e]misses & of her necessitous Condic[i]on was in ye yeare 1663 admitted one of the penc[i]oners of this Citty which (by reason of a great fitt of sicknes) shee hath not for some time [two illegible words] beene able to looke after, by which meanes shee is now wholly deprived of the benefitt of that Charity.
Wherefore shee is now an humble pet[itione]r to y[ou]r good Lor[dshi]pp that you would be pleased out of y[ou]r wonted Compassion {illegible} to admitt her to be one of the Penc[i]oners of this Hon[oura]ble Citty
And shee shall pray &c

Faith Jacob widdow is entered a Pentioner in the Roome of Thomas Piggott being dead, & the first 1/4 to her at Midsom[e]r 1673.
