The petition of Ensign Robert Chamberlen, The King’s Lifeguard, May 1660

To the Kings Most Excelent Maiesty

The humble petic[i]on of Robert Chamberlen formerly Ensigne in the lifegard of his Maiestie of blessed memory

Sheweth

That your petic[i]oner haveing beene att Oxford and other places a soldier from the begining of the warr to Nasby Fight was then wounded and taken prisoner and hath been ever since in extreame want;

Your petic[i]oner praies that he may be admitted one of the Fowre Messengers of the Exchequer with ye Fee of fowre pence halfe penny a day & twenty shillings for a livery &c.

And your petic[i]oner shall ever pray &c.
