The petition of Emery Hutchinson of Salford, Lancashire, Midsummer 1658

To the Right worshippfull the Justices of peace and Quor[um] att the Sessions of peace holden att Manchester
The humble petic[i]on of Emery Hutchinson of Salford in behalfe of a little Child of her owne
Sheweth
vnto yo[u]r good worshipps that about three weeks yeares agoe yo[u]r petic[i]oners husband dyed in Ireland in the States service as yo[u]r petic[i]oner is informed that ever since shee hath through her Industrey and Care kept & manteyned the said Child through by hard paine & labor now in regard she groweth very poore and not able any longer to manteyne the said Child without shee may receive some Competent Manteynance for releefe of the said Child
May it therefore please yo[u]r worshipps in tender Comicerac[i]on to take her sad Condic[i]on into Conciderac[i]on and grant that yo[u]r petic[i]oner may have yo[u]r order derected to the Churchwardens & Ou[er]seers of the poore of Salford that she may receive Competent Manteynance for the said Child & that she hav may have the same allowance weekely & the some what as yo[u]r worshipps shall thinke fitt & yo[u]r petic[i]oner will ever pray &c.
