The petition of Ellin Breanon of Ireby, Lancashire, Easter 1652

To the Right wor[shi]pp[ful] Justices of the peace at the Sessions at Lancaster
The humble petic[i]on of Anne Ellin Breanon
Sheweth
That wheras yo[u]r pore petic[i]o[ne]rs husbande beinge a souldior and now is in service for the States of Englande hath lefte his wife and five smalle Children and nothinge to mentaine them w[i]thall one Robarte Foster of Irebye did agree w[i]th and promise to paie to yo[u]r pore petic[i]o[ne]r the some of Eight pounds for and towards the bringinge vp of her Children w[hi]ch moneyes as yet is vnpaid w[hi]ch some the said Foster did a Sume and p[ro]mise to James Tunstall he beinge then cunstable.
May it theirfore please yo[u]r wor[shi]pps to take the p[re]mises in to yo[u]r graue considerac[i]ons and to grant yo[u]r petic[i]o[ne]r yo[u]r wor[shi]pps warrante either to the paie the aforesaid some, or to areaste his goods by vertue of the same, and yo[u]r pore petic[i]o[ne]r will as in dutye bound euer pray.
