The petition of Ellen Crosby, Derbyshire, 25 February 1648

Rich[ard] Crosby was A Souldier in this Regiment {illegible} in the Company of Maior John Mollannus by the full space of three yeares a halfe [sic.] & vpwards & beinge w[i]th the rest of Regiment [sic.] Commanded vpon service to Newarke was there upon the first of May Anno 1646 vnffortunately slaine w[i]th a drake Bullet & hath left yo[u]r Petic[i]oner w[i]th three small children hauinge nothing to maintaine them but her hand labours by meanes whereof both yo[u]r Peticioner & her children affords[ai]d are brought into a miserable Condicion

May it therefore please yo[u]r Good Worships seriously to waigh the pr[e]misses & to order that shee may haue her husbands Arreares towards the maintaynance of her small children & yo[u]r yo[u]r [sic] Peticioner shall dayly pray for yo[u]r Worships perpetuall p[re]servation

<ordered by the Comittee that Mr Buxton pay the petic[i]oner Ellen Crosby one months pay. Feb[ruary] 1647 18 s. 8 d.>
