The petition of Elizebeth Williamson of Church Hulme, Cheshire, Epiphany 1661

To ye Right Wor[shipfu]ll ye Justices of peace;

the humble petic[i]on of Elizebeth Williamson widdow humbly sheweth

That yo[u]r poore petic[i]oner being mother vnt[o] one James Williamson who was a souldier ingaged For ye township of Church Hoolme at ye last ariseing in Cheshire for ye King. Hee was promised as full & as good satisfaction as any man had for yt service but could never finde any p[er]formance as to their promise; but being in yt service he fell into a long & greivous fitt of sicknes & thervpon dyed w[hi]ch was a great cost and greife vnto mee for I had but a little stock vnder my hands and sold all to relieue him in his extremity and when my owne was spent I did endeaver by ye help of good people to releiue him as long as god lent him life: yo[u]r wo[rshi]ps I hope will consider this matter and yo[u]r humble pet[i]c[i]oner will ever pray:
