The petition of Elizabeth Tuntstall of Leek, Staffordshire, 6 October 1657

To the Justices of the peace for the County of Stafford the humble Petition of Elizabeth Tuntstall of Leeke widd[ow].

Sheweth

That whereas your petitioners husband John Tuntstall was A souldier in the Parliam[en]ts service under the Comand of Col[one]l Bowyer who served from the begining of the warre until the day of his death which happened to be at the leaguer at Lichfield by the plague and beinge left with small meanes for the reliefe of herselfe and children and also infirme of her body.

May it please you out of your tender pitty and compassion to your poor petitioner to aforde some pension according as you shall thinke in your wisdomes and discretion meete for the reliefe of the said lame widdow, And for your tender care and comisserac[i]on your petitioner shall ever pray.
